Rustic mud house stay in the heart of nature
You enter Vaalmeekam through a narrow lane where the shrubs gently scrape the sides of your car, a green handshake before you even arrive. At the end of that road, a gate opens to something more than a stay, a joyful, human to human interaction.
Your host , Sri hari spent over two decades at Infosys, then looked at this 90-year-old mud house, still standing as if it had something to prove, and thought, "This is the plan." Srija cooks. Gopal tends the garden. Joseph builds and fixes what needs it. They're not staff, they're family. And that's the thing about Valmeekam that you can't quite put on a booking page, everyone here is invested in you, in the meal, in whether the jasmine outside your window is doing okay. Down the road, the ancient Thirunelli Temple sits in the lap of the Brahmagiri hills, a place so old they call it the Kashi of the South. But the real sanctuary is right here, in the stories Sri Hari tells and the forest walks where the trees do the heavy lifting. By the time the sun dips, you realize you aren’t just a guest in a room. You’re the person this house has been waiting for.
As Sri Hari says, “A house isn't old. It’s just been waiting for the right people to come home.”
