A Konkan stay where nature and nostalgia meet
Vasudha Sahasrabudhe and her daughter Medha came to this part of Maharashtra’s Konkan in 2007. It was a yearly ritual to come here, but this time Vasudha did not feel like going back to Pune and ended up calling the village of Kothavade her new home. Medha, an interior designer by profession, would visit frequently and more often than once, with her friends. It was after a few months that the idea of turning this personal space into something much more came to her.
The two rooms at the top of the common area were transformed using Medha’s design ideas into a space where guests could come and stay. Atithi Parinay today is one of the very few homestays in the region where a balance of warmth, food, and aesthetics is created through the people, all local villagers who work there.
A fully vegetarian array of regional food options is on display during your stay, and the longer you stay, the more you experience. There are beautiful village and plantation walks to be done in the surroundings, with locals who are more than happy not only to guide you but also to invite you to their homes for a cup of tea.
Medha and Vasudha have created a home that feels like home, even to those stopping by on a transit stay to or from Mumbai. Atithi Parinay and its residents have been welcoming guests since 2008, and they only get better each year with their learnings.
Two rooms sit just above the kitchen and common area, each thoughtfully designed and comfortable for up to three adults. Mornings here begin with the gentle clatter of breakfast being prepared below, birdsong drifting in, and the scent of something warm on the stove; simple joys to wake up to.
This AC room, hosting up to three adults, is simply designed with views of the surrounding landscape.
