Where the first rays of the sun hit
Perched on the ridge of Guniyalekh in the Kumaon Himalayas, Aarish is a narrative of dreams realized. Named after “the first rays of the sun,” this charming retreat is the brainchild of Dev and Deepika Verma during the pandemic. It showcases their love for the mountains with an abiding commitment to sustainability and community upliftment.
The four-room abode draws inspiration from the traditional Kumaoni Baakhli, seamlessly marrying modern minimalism with rustic heritage. Its textured walls, pine-clad interiors, and expansive windows offer 360-degree views of snow-capped peaks, terraced fields, and the untouched beauty of the Nanda Devi Range. Every corner reflects Deepika’s keen eye for detail. The adornment of handwoven Naga shawls to Manipuri baskets and handcrafted curios tell stories of the couple’s Northeastern roots.
Reaching Aarish involves a picturesque 15-minute trek, greeted by the warmth of its team and the family’s Indie dog, Dash. The highlight? Aarish’s aesthetic architecture, which flows naturally with its surroundings. It creates a tranquil haven where time stands still.
Here, every sunrise feels like a personal moment with the mountains, inviting you to pause, reflect, and reconnect.
