Set in the lush plantation landscape of Valparai, Sheikalmudi Bungalow carries nearly a century of history within its walls. Built in 1928 as a residence for plantation managers, the bungalow stood quietly through decades of estate life before capturing the imagination of Lingesh Kalingarayar. A farmer turned wildlife enthusiast and birdwatcher, Lingesh restored the home in 2018, preserving its old-world charm while opening its doors to travellers seeking nature and quiet.
Today, the bungalow remains deeply connected to the wilderness of the Anamalai Hills. Thick walls, vintage architecture, and simple comforts reflect its heritage, while the surrounding forests shape the rhythm of the stay. Lingesh encourages guests to slow down, disconnect from the digital world, and immerse themselves in the landscape. Evenings often bring the distant sounds of wildlife moving through the valley, and friends like wildlife photographer Prakash sometimes join guests to share stories of the region’s remarkable biodiversity.

Room Overview:
Sheikalmudi Bungalow is a spacious, character-filled home surrounded by greenery and open skies. Built using traditional elements and natural materials, the bungalow features high ceilings, large windows, and quiet verandahs that open out to the views. The interiors are simple and comfortable, allowing the surrounding landscape to take centre stage and creating a calm, private setting.
The bungalow has three bedrooms. Two rooms open out through French doors to a shared verandah, while the third room features a private verandah. The layout offers a balance of shared and private spaces, suited to slow mornings, relaxed afternoons, and quiet evenings.

Price Description: The price is for double occupancy and includes all taxes and accommodation with the meals mentioned below.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Raahghar Payment Terms: Reservation is confirmed with an advance payment of 50% of the total amount at the time of booking. The balance payment is to be made 7 days prior to check-in.
Cancellation Policy (Indian Passport Holders Only):
In case of a cancellation due to any unforeseen circumstance a credit note will be issued by the property to the guest for the amount paid till date.
The credit note will be valid for use within one year from the period of booking.
The guest can redeem the credit note against the amount of any future booking within a year and pay the balance if any as per the rates applicable on that date.
This credit note is also transferable and can be used by the guest/transferee only once within the stipulated date.

The bungalow was built in 1928 during the Colonial Era with the Sholayar dam view on one side and rainforest view on the other.
The bungalow is surrounded by 4 different reserve forests & tiger reserves, making it the best location for wildlife enthusiasts.
