A home with a water body
Chengappa is a homestay, somewhere between being home and beautifully short of being a rural farmstay, where the feeling of exclusivity stays with you throughout your stay. The doors open to a wide-angle view of a meadow that extends to the nearby forest land, inviting you into spaces intentionally designed for slowing down. Mornings here begin with soft light filtering in through large windows that look out over the quiet coffee plantations and lush gardens. With simple comforts and attached bathrooms, the rooms invite deep rest after unhurried days, offering cool air and a gentle, grounding rhythm shaped entirely by estate life. An evening under the starry sky with the sound of Chengappa's water stream might just make you want to pull a sleeping mat out onto the grass.
Vinu, a local Coorg boy, hails from Bangalore where he successfully ran his own Coorgi restaurant for a decade before it was perhaps time to come back to his roots. The initial lot of travelers to Chengappa were none other than the foodies who were regulars at his restaurant, drawn back by the promise of his hospitality. An avid enthusiast of car racing and rock music, Vinu now lives with his two helpers in the Chengappa homestead, hosting not as a return to simpler way of living. Here, conversations unfold naturally, the local flavours carry the stories of the land, and the nights offer a quiet solitude that makes you forget the pace of the world outside.
Mobile range is patchy in and around the property. Make sure you download the directions to the Chengappa Homestead before.
