A peaceful garden retreat at the foothills of Chamundi Hills
The story of Gitanjali started back in 1987, with Muthu and Dalu, a couple who understood true hospitality about the warmth of a planter’s home. Their daughter, Yamuna, joined the story a few years later after exploring her own path, bringing with her an intuitive grasp of what global travelers, especially those who understand the elegance of European stays. Geetanjali is woven into the Kodava roots, creating a space where the architecture doesn't compete with the landscape, it surrenders to it. There is a grounded balance here; the house is literally in the garden, not the house with a garden. You aren't just looking at the greenery from behind a pane of glass; you are living within its depths. Most people treat Mysore as a quick transit stop, a place to grab breakfast before rushing off to the hills. But Yamuna has created a reason to actually pull over and breathe. If you’re driving down from Bangalore, maybe you took the old-school route through the silk farms of Ramanagara or stopped for toys in Channapatna, don't just pass through.
Give it two days or more. Don’t just use Mysore for your transit, although it might feel like one, but when you are actually there, maybe you might be witnessing something closer to you, a distant part you haven't quite reached out to yet.
