Nirvriti, a heritage house built over 150 years old, was passed down through 3 generations of the Gounder family and transferred ownership before being gifted to the present owners, Ria and Joseph Chakola by his brother. Vacant for a long period, Joseph and Ria spent many years painstakingly restoring this stately house to its former glory. They live in an adjacent block to the main house and run the homestay together with warm hospitality. The team at Nirvriti includes Saravanan and his wife Suganthi, an essential part of the homestay, from being responsible for running the kitchen and the upkeep of the property, they do it all. Dining is central to the experience at Nirvriti and Ria and Joseph both are passionate about food, they serve local and international food with equal verve. The coffee at Nirvriti is an experience not to be missed, specially blended and sourced from a roastery in Coorg. A stay at Nirvriti offers the elegance of a bygone era where you can escape from the hubbub of daily life.
In the restored house there are two suites ideal for a group of 4 to 6 adults. The entire house has a feel of a traditional Syrian Catholic abode. Both the suites are ideally given together along with the entire common space, however, if there is just a couple or a family of three, one of the suites can be priced separately. The host family lives in the new house next door.
Two air-conditioned suites are crafted in the traditional style with handmade floor tiles. They include a luxuriously furnished bedroom and a separate living room. There is also a private balcony with a sitting area overlooking the gardens. When sold separately the entire house would be for a single family's use.

Raahghar Payment Terms: Reservation is confirmed with an advance payment of 50% of the total amount at the time of booking. The balance payment is to be made 7 days prior to check-in.
Cancellation Policy (Indian Passport Holders Only):
In case of a cancellation due to any unforeseen circumstance a credit note will be issued by the property to the guest for the amount paid till date.
The credit note will be valid for use within one year from the period of booking. The guest can redeem the credit note against the amount of any future booking within a year and pay the balance if any as per the rates applicable on that date. This credit note is also transferable and can be used by the guest/transferee only once within the stipulated date.

The village road gets narrower as we approach NIrvriti. Make sure to call the owners before you come in, who live in the connected unit next to the main house.
The house is one of a kind with history oozing out from every corner of the walls. There is an MF Hussain original giving the living room its character. The tiles are handmade and are from Chettinad.
The use of plastic is minimal. The ingredients are all locally sourced from the surrounding farms.
