Atop a Hill Amidst the Wild
Woodway Estate offers one of the most authentic plantation stays in Chikmagalur and is known as the region’s first homestay. Susmitha and her husband Shreedev have lovingly nurtured this home over the years, gradually shaping it into the warm retreat it is today. The bungalow sits within their family’s Hullikere Estate, about forty minutes from town, perched on a hill that looks out over the rolling landscapes of the Western Ghats.
The century old home has six rooms, each named after elements from the estate and the surrounding forests. Life here follows the gentle rhythm of the plantation, with mornings often beginning with quiet walks through coffee trails and evenings spent watching the hills settle into dusk. Meals are prepared in the traditional Malenaadu style, using fresh seasonal ingredients sourced locally, adding another layer to the experience of staying at Woodway.
